  • I booked a car hire online with 'Do You Spain' and had already several months before, purchased a separate annual 'excess insurance' policy - this covers any excess charges in case of vehicle damage and has worked perfectly year after year. On arrival at the Delpaso airport depot, I passed over my driving licence, passport, two credit cards and two debit cards. The two credit cards showed my name as Mr D Brown and D S Brown. The debit cards both showed David Brown. The DoYouSpain voucher (who I had booked through), wording said I needed a 'Credit Card (in the name of the main driver)' None of these cards were acceptable to avoid the additional insurance premium of €200 - they don't accept debit cards, and Delpaso said the credit cards must contain the full name. Despite that, they were happy to take the payment for the XS insurance €200 using the same credit card. The small print does not say the credit card must show 'full name' - but Delpaso claimed as the card did not show my full name they wouldn't accept it and I had to purchase the additional insurance from them. The small print on the hire voucher I had states : A major credit card (Visa or Mastercard) in the name of the main driver is required inorder to collect the car. (Please note that cards without the driver's name on will not be accepted). This company will not accept prepaid, rechargeable, virtual credit cards or cards issued by virtual banks. There is also a scam going on regarding International Driving Permits (IDP) where this company says you need one, or pay the excess insurance - I have never had an IDP despite renting a car dozens of times in Spain. They differentiate UK driving licences from European yet the government advice says you don't need one, though some companies ask for it

  • Car we received was of lower class than we booked, Citroen C1 rather than DX3. It had over 80k km on the clock, was dirty and woefully underpowered. When I told them I had my own insurance excess they wanted to charged me €190 rather than €120

  • It was easy to collect the car and drop it off. One issue was that we thought we had purchased excess cover when we hired the vehicle online before we left for Spain only to be charged an extra €100 when we picked the car up.

  • Would not accept excess insurance, made you take theirs out at 20 euro a day or wouldn’t hire you a car

  • These guys are big time hustlers. They’re surely on some serious bonuses if the sell you the Waiver insurance. I have Hired twice now and both times scammed into buying their waiver insurance. Which I don’t need as have annual policy through someone else. First time they said I’d have to pay for a full tank of fuel which was €130 unless I took their waiver insurance which was €80 which seemed ok it cost me €35 to fill the half back up that I had used. So a saving of €15 don’t know how they get €130 for a full tank €70 max in what I had., Next Time I was ready for them as I would be using the car loads so didn’t mind paying for the petrol. But no. The catch now is you need an international driving licence if you don’t take their insurance or you can’t have the car. So there goes another €200. In the back ground I could here another victim who’s Credit card didn’t quite match his info for the car hire profile so now he would have to pay the waiver or not get a car. I have since had clarification from Delpaso head office that your not required to have an international driving licence so I will be persuading them to give me back my money. My advice to you is stay clear. No matter how cheap they seem in the brokers sites that’s just click bait they will end up costing you more than somewhere else that actually gives you good customer service and decent quality cars

  • Rented from dec. 26th 2024 to jan 7th 2025 for 209€, a Volkswagen T-Cross, basic insurance included, 1'500€ deposit plus 167€ (what?!?) for fuel. Brough back the car fuel 100%, with all the scratches that were on the car at the check-in (14 scratches available on my iPhone). They claimed damages (scratches) done to the car 15 min after I gave them back the keys (my pictures timestamp VS they picture names with date-time), and wanted to deduce 193.60€ from the deposit. I do not trust and I will definitely not rent a car from EL PASO Malaga anymore.

  • DO NOT use this company. I recommend to anybody thinking of renting a car from DelPaso Car Hire, Malaga, go somewhere else!!! I was charged $171 AUD for 7 days car hire. They then charged me $211 AUD for a tank of full on collection of the car! The car had done 88,000 kms and was in very poor condition! Staff were rude and unhelpful!

  • I've rented with Del Paso a number of times over the years, but will NEVER do so again after two rentals where they did rip me off on their add-on insurance, and then a second time where they tried to (although I already have excess cover). Both were similar to incidents reported elsewhere. Incident 1: Did not have International Driving Permit (IDP), so had to take full insurance top-up, or not rental. No choice, as it was late at night. Incident 2 (very recent): Got IDP, so took hire car on cheap rental via a broker (as I usually do). On return, they claimed I had made scratches on corner of bumper - because the many pictures I had taken of the many, many scratches and bumps on the car did not show that particular corner. Let me off paying for these scratches, but told me I had to hire directly from them in future (= paying for the expensive full insurance), not via a broker. When I objected, and found and produced photographic evidence that the scratches in question were there when I picked up the car, they told me curtly not to use them in future. Terrible, rude, pressurising and cheating customer service! Avoid them!!!

  • After booking my car hire and paying for private excess ins which they would not accept, and asked if I had an International driving permit, which according to the Gov.UK website I do not need to drive in Spain with a UK driving licence for up to 6 months. They then asked for 240 euros as I did not have a permit I disagreed with them and the man at the desk said either pay or get a taxi. So I had no option other than pay, left feeling I have been robbed. The car was very tatty loads of scrapes, dents etc which I photographed in case they argues that I had done, them as I now did not trust this company. Dropping the car back just had to hand keys in, and wait for courtesy bus to airport, that was a nightmare 2nd in queue to get on then it was a free for all to get on need to have a better system in place. will never use this company again and I urge people to look at all small print as I am sure what they are doing is illegal, I have a lawyer looking at it for me. Best to hire from Airport and not off site.

  • Scammed me into paying for their car insurance even though I had already bought online from another company.

  • Stay away from this company, they will rip you off with no regrets, read the small letters as they will find a way to not accept your first "cheap reservation" and then charge you lots more so you can have your car.Apart from that the staff are very rude, its like go to hell if not happy.

  • We were denied service because we asked many questions regarding the terms and services and they were nervous, we then called them a scam and they were very insulted. It seems to me only guilty people would get insulted at this comment 😃. Overall I am thankful they denied service after reading all the horror reviews and experiences!! Do not use this company

  • Booked a full full deal on doyouspain only to find that all their bookings default to full empty in the t&c’s. Never again. What a load of hassle. DO NOT USE.

  • Please don't rent a car with Del Paso… Please don't rent a car with Del Paso Malaga It is a scam. If you don't take the assurance with them (5 days 170 Euro) they ask you to take the car and if you wish to make some pictures. At moment of pick-up was a bit dark. I came back for the car return and I can tell you how happy and quick they were to find a small scratch on the rightside bumber back. Car had almost not moved in 5 days. We are 100% sure not to have bumped into anything. The scratch was underneath very small. 193,60 Euro I had to pay. PLEASE DON'T BOOK with Del Paso. it's a scam. Next one taking the same car, will have to pay the same amount. They profit from the scratch to lift money out of all tourists pockets. The lady checking the car smiled to her collegue. Job well-done. Perfect scam. You don't take an expensive assurance with us? No problem, we let you pay in another way. Disgusting. Internet is full of bad reviews and scam alerts. But they continue their practice ...

  • Scammed us at the airport because we did not have an International Driving License and forced us to take their full insurance or face not getting a car. When we paid it - €200 Euro!! - suddenly it was all ok that we didn’t have the International Drivers License. Total robbers. Another 3 people had same issue as us and… if you don’t have a credit card with your FULL name on it then you will face same problem. Don’t use Del Paso car hire is my advice!

  • Listen up! So i arrived today at the rental for my car, that I paid up front weeks ago. Ready to pick up the car, the guy tells me the boss has blocked me for rentals as I posted a negative feedback some years ago!! So I stand here with my daughter first day of holiday with no car, and the money they stole I have to fix mysel through a claim! This is totally crazy, and can’t be legal!. Do never trust this company and don’t let them steal your money and destroy your holiday! And btw, the reason for the “negative feedback” I gave some years ago was cause they demanded four times the cost they presented in the beginning. Daniel

  • They made me have Excess Insurance at an expensive rate, I already had excess insurance. They told me it is because I did not have an international license.

  • Extremely good value - upgraded without asking and slick easy service
